Louisiana Film Prize awarded Breakout Event of The Year

Shreveport, LA – The Shreveport-Bossier Convention and Tourist Bureau awarded The Louisiana Film Prize the Breakout Event of The Year award at the 2013 P.R.I.D.E. Awards on May 09, 2013. The awards ceremony was packed with representatives from the area’s top events and tourist attractions.

“We couldn’t believe it when we heard our name!” said Gregory Kallenberg. “What a huge honor. We were floored that the Film Prize was validated with such a huge award.”

The Louisiana Film Prize held its first event in October of 2012 bringing in an economic impact of over 2 million dollars, with over 1,700 festival attendees. The film event differentiates itself by allowing a mix of the public and a national panel of judges to judge the $50,000 cash prize – one of the world’s largest for a short film.

“This mix of creative energy and excitement for our film event is what made it so unique and put us in the national spotlight,” said Kallenberg. “As we often say in the Film Prize office, we’re the soup stone. The people who made the films and the festival crowd were the ones who made the Louisiana Film Prize so successful.”

The Louisiana Film Prize is already preparing for their 2013 event and are already seeing a more robust response for the concept. Last year, at this time, there were 32 film teams registered to participate. This year, there are already over 60 film crews eager to vie for the $50,000 prize.

“This is going to be a great year for us,” said Kallenberg. “We have an amazing team organizing the event, we have a national film audience ready to come down and be a part of this and we are preparing for a bigger and better Louisiana Film Prize. VIVA LA FILM PRIZE 2013!”
